Another week of hockey has come and gone. Therefore, a new set of 2027 draft-eligible players are being recognized for their exploits. This week an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) defender is turning heads in his second season. A Western Hockey League (WHL) centre is trying to prove that he can meet the pre-draft hype. Finally, a WHL defender who had a superb 2026 playoff run has picked up where he left off.
Here are the 2027 NHL Draft eligible three stars for the week of October 12 to 19:
Levi Harper | RHD | Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
American defenseman Levi Harper is one of the older players in the 2027 Draft class. The Tampa, Florida, native’s October 3, 2008, birthday meant he missed the cut-off for being a 2026 draft pick by 18 days. The second-year OHL defender is looking to build off a strong rookie campaign where he pitched 57 points (12 goals, 45 assists) in 68 games.
The former Shattuck St. Mary’s standout has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in five games this season. Currently ranked number 27 on the Draft Prospect Hockey 2027 NHL Draft Rankings, more weeks like this past one could see Harper’s stock rising drastically.
The 6-foot, 185-pound rearguard posted six points (two goals, four assists) in three games. The 2025-26 CHL All-Rookie Team defender had a pair of secondary assists in Saginaw’s 9-2 rout of the Sarnia Sting.
He exploded for four points (two goals, two assists) in the next night’s rematch with the Sting. Harper picked up secondary assists on two first-period goals as the Spirit jumped out to an early lead. Following a Sting rally back to tie the game at three, Harper got the Sting back on top. Teammate Tyler Martyniuk found the defender alone at the point with some space. The 2027 University of Michigan commit took a few strides in before lifting a wrist shot over the goalie’s blocker to restore the Spirit lead. The Sting responded again, and so did Harper. With 59 seconds left in the third period, the 18-year-old stepped into a slap shot from the point that went off the goalie’s trapper and in.
Following the two goal-filled affairs with the Sting, the Spirit had a much tighter contest against the Owen Sound Attack. Harper had three shots on goal but only made the scoresheet with a roughing penalty in the first period.
Brock England | C | Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
Seattle Thunderbirds centre Brock England entered his draft year with some pretty lofty expectations. The number five ranked player on Draft Prospect Hockey’s 2027 NHL Draft Rankings has gotten off to a modest start offensively.
The 5-foot-11, 174-pound pivot has a respectable eight points in eight games. Following a 51-point (21 goals, 30 assists) rookie campaign last season, the Red Deer native will need to find the scoresheet a little more consistently to level his game up significantly from a year ago.
The former Calgary Edge Prep School star was held pointless by the Vancouver Giants. Despite seven shots on goal, England didn’t register a point in the 5-1 loss to open the week.
However, his fortunes turned for the rest of the week as he picked up four points (one goal, three assists) in the next two games. England played a key role in helping the Thunderbirds rally from a 3-1 deficit to win in overtime against the Kamloops Blazers. In the early stages of the second period, England walked into the offensive zone with the puck. He drew the defender’s attention before dropping a pass back that teammate Matthew Gard rifled into the net to make it 3-2. The 2026 Hlinka-Gretzky gold medallist picked up a secondary assist on one of the Thunderbirds’ two late third-period goals to force overtime. In the extra frame, England completed the helper hat trick with a secondary assist on the power play winner.
The fast-skating agile centre picked up his third goal of the season in his team’s final game of the week against Spokane. Breaking in two on one with teammate Noah Kosick, England set up in some open ice. Kosick hit him with a pass, and he ripped a snapshot past the keeper.
Brock Cripps | RHD | Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
Prince Albert Raiders defender Brock Cripps showed that he was going to be a player of interest in the 2027 draft after an impressive 2026 playoff run. The Victoria, BC, native posted 21 points (four goals, 17 assists) during 20 games en route to the WHL final.
The number two defenseman on Draft Prospects Hockey’s 2027 NHL Draft Ranking behind the University of Michigan’s Landon DuPont has started the 2026-27 campaign where he left off. The slick-skating rear guard has 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in 11 games.
The former St. George’s Prep School phenom had four assists in two games this past week as the Raiders lost a pair of contests in extra time.
Cripps found the open man in the offensive zone for a primary assist to open the scoring against the Moose Jaw Warriors. He doubled up with another helper on the power play later in the frame. After making it look like he was trying to find a shooting lane, Cripps dished the puck to an open man who fired it in.
The 5-foot-11, 168-pound defender picked up a secondary assist early in the third period as the Raiders jumped out to a 3-1 lead against the Brandon Wheat Kings. He doubled up with another helper on the power play to extend the lead. However, the Wheat Kings scored three unanswered in regulation before sealing the game just over a minute into overtime.
